San Francisco Fish Company redefines “fish market." Owner Allen Kuehn offers his customers both a dazzling selection of hand-picked fish and seafood products—and a distinctive assortment of ready-to-eat or cook-at-home prepared items. Allen also owns Rockridge Fish Market at Oakland’s Market Hall and was a former chef at top restaurants in San Francisco and New York. He calls the Ferry Building his “dream location” —partly because of the charming location, but mostly because the market has full cooking facilities.

Eighteen feet of display cases are filled with fish and seafood. There are live crab and lobster tanks. The take-home menu includes items for every day and for special occasions—whole poached salmon, lobster pot pie, seafood lasagna, Ohlone smoked salmon, gravlax, fresh sushi, and even house-made fish stock and a cioppino base. Lunch items include soups, chowders and salads which can be enjoyed at a small seating area in the shop. Those visiting San Francisco can arrange to have items shipped home—anywhere in the world.
